this article examines the institutional problems hindering the socio-economic development of the regions. The article assesses the role of governance, regulatory frameworks and institutional capacity in shaping regional growth. It is shown that the solution of these institutional problems is of decisive importance for the promotion of sustainable socio-economic development by means of various practical studies and the analysis of the opinion of foreign scientists.
